Hi! I’m Alexis Anderson

And I'm so glad you're here.

Healing doesn't happen in isolation. It happens in relationship — with ourselves, with the people we love, and with those who are brave enough to walk alongside us. That belief is at the heart of everything I do.

I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Mama Glow Doula Trainee based in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I hold a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University (2015), and for the last five years I've had the honor of sitting with individuals, couples, and families as they do the hard, beautiful work of healing.

My Story

My path into this work is deeply personal.

I grew up in a blended family — one that, if I'm being honest, didn't always feel very blended. I know firsthand what it feels like to navigate the complicated emotions that come with merging families: the confusion, the longing to belong, the unspoken grief of a family that looks one way on the outside but feels something very different on the inside.

That experience became my purpose. I entered the mental health field with one clear mission: to help families blend in the healthiest way possible for every single member. Not just the adults. Not just the children who seem to be "handling it fine." Every member.

Over the years, that mission has grown.

Today, I understand that family healing doesn't begin only at blending — it begins at the very start of life itself. Welcoming a new baby into a family is one of the most joyful and most overwhelming transitions a family can experience. The postpartum period, in particular, carries a weight that too many families carry alone and in silence.

My Approach

I believe you are the expert of your own life. My role is not to tell you what your family needs — it's to help you discover it together.

I draw primarily from Solution Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), using a family systems lens that honors the complexity of every relationship in the room. Whether you're navigating the early days of parenthood, blending families, working through communication breakdowns, or simply wanting to feel more connected — I meet you where you are, without judgment.

Expanding the Vision: Postpartum Support for the Whole Family

Ready to Begin?

Your healing is not a cost. It is an investment — in yourself, in your relationships, and in every generation that comes after you.

I am currently training as a Mama Glow Doula because I believe families deserve wraparound support during the postpartum season — not just clinical support, but holistic, informed, and compassionate care.

My goal is to combine my therapeutic expertise, doula training, and ongoing research to help reduce the risk of postpartum depression and anxiety — not only in mothers, but in fathers and partners too. Postpartum affects the whole family system, and it deserves a whole-family response.

Together, we will:

  • Identify your family's unique needs during the transition into parenthood

  • Build a personalized support plan that prepares your family — emotionally, relationally, and practically

  • Reduce isolation and overwhelm by strengthening the connection between partners and within the family unit

  • Equip you with tools drawn from therapy, doula care, and evidence-based research
